Queen Kerber: Angelique wins her maiden grand slam.

Singles Singles: 23rd-seeded Russian, Svetlana Kuznetsova (Rus), joined the growing list of seeded casualties to fall in the early rounds of the 2016 Australian Open in Melbourne. Kuznetsova was upended by unseeded Ukrainian Kateryna Bondarenko (Ukr) 1-6, 5-7 on Wednesday (Day 3).

The 2016 Australian Open women's singles champion is Angelique Kerber (Ger) who stunned world number one Serena Williams (USA) 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 in the final. In doing so, Kerber clinched her maiden grand slam and became the first German player since Steffi Graf in 1999 to win a grand slam title. Full Story »

Doubles Women's Doubles: Svetlana and doubles partner, Italy's Roberta Vinci (Ita), have been beaten in their third round match against top-seeded duo Martina Hingis (Sui) / Sania Mirza (Ind) 1-6, 3-6.
