2007 WTA Tour Champs. (Madrid): loss to Ana Ivanovic (SRB) - Red Group

6th November, 2007

Q: You worked hard for that. You must be frustrated to come away a loser in the end?

Svetlana: Yeah I am. I started to play horrible and it was very hard. I was down a set and 3-0 or 4-1. I was just trying to hang in there because I know I got the game. I played better than last year and I know better how to play. When I think back I think I was in a position to win because inn the third set I had so many chances and I missed so many easy shots so that's why I am frustated, I had so many chances. It seemed to be there and I just lost it.

Q: What did she do well that worried you?

Svetlana: I think some moments she played good forehand, it's her best stroke and mine too but I missed all of them and she made it was the difference basically.

Q: Do you look back at this match at all positively in that you were able to come back and make it a really close match?

Svetlana: I didn't have time too look back at this match yet. I just had time to take a shower and come to see you guys. Well, I have to think about it. I am really upset because I really made a better day of my really bad day that I started the match off so this is a good thing. The bad thing is that I just lost it in the end. If I would start in a different way the match would go in a different way.

Q: Are you looking forward to the rest of the matches? The fact that you went on such a run towards the end of the match, do you think that you can carry that over to the matches to come?

Svetlana: I think I had a good warm up and I feel the court better now and I can improve it in the next matches. I just take positive every step and hope to do better in the next match.
